Tara Brown is a professional Dancer, Choreographer, Teacher and Certified Life Coach from Brooklyn, New York. She started dancing at the age of three but began her serious training at the age of nine at The School at STEPS. By the age of twelve, Tara became one of the youngest members of Dancewave Company, a repertory dance company where she performed the works of Mark Morris, David Dorfman, Donald Byrd, Doug Varone and Trisha Brown.
Tara attended the Professional Performing Arts School where she trained at the well known Alvin Ailey Dance School. After high school, Tara attended The University of Massachusetts (Amherst) and graduated in 2013 where she obtained her BFA in Dance and BS in Psychology. While at UMass, she performed the works of many choreographers including Mark Morris, Camille A. Brown, Ohad Naharin and more. Tara’s own choreography, Whitewash, was also selected to be performed and adjudicated at ACDFA. She has performed for and continues to train with former Beyonce dancer’s Shirlene Quigley, Aisha Francis and Olivia Cipolla. She was also most recently Associate Choreographer for Broadway Bares, an annual Broadway fundraiser performance. Tara has also performed for A$AP Rocky, The Jazz Foundation of America’s honoree Gladys KInight and Cindy Salgado of Kidd Pivot.
Tara Brown is not limited to the dance industry. She has been a Property Manager for one of Brooklyn’s top Real Estate firms managing three buildings and a hotel, Bar Manager for Suede Restaurant and Boutique Manager/Head of NYC Sales for Gaynor Minden Inc., a top ballet apparel company. Her leadership roles and experience in various fields have lead her to obtaining her Certification as a Life and Career Coach to give dancers the resources and encouragement to navigate the dance industry successfully and confidently.
